Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term

Are you a Psychology graduate with ambitions to become an Educational Psychologist?

Do you want to gain hands-on experience supporting students with additional needs, behaviour challenges and learning barriers before progressing onto further study?

KPI Education are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school to appoint a dedicated Graduate Education Psychologist Teaching Assistant. This role is specifically designed for graduates who are exploring a future career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology or child-focused therapeutic professions.

The Role

As a Graduate Education Psychologist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the SENCo, pastoral team and external professionals to support students with a range of additional needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support for students with SEND, SEMH or ASD
  • Delivering targeted interventions focused on emotional regulation, social skills and cognition
  • Supporting behaviour management strategies within the classroom
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and wellbeing
  • Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets
  • Observing and reporting behavioural and learning patterns
  • Supporting small group interventions focused on resilience and self-esteem

This is an ideal opportunity to develop practical experience working directly with young people who require additional psychological and emotional support.

Who We’re Looking For

  • A 2:1 or First-Class degree in Psychology (or closely related subject)
  • A genuine interest in Educational Psychology or child development
  • Strong academic background (particularly in research methods and developmental psychology)
  • Calm, empathetic and resilient personality
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with vulnerable students
  • Strong written and observational skills

Previous experience working with young people, SEN settings, youth work or mentoring is highly desirable but not essential.

Why This Role is Ideal for Aspiring Educational Psychologists

  • Direct experience supporting SEND and SEMH pupils
  • Exposure to EHCP processes and multi-agency working
  • Opportunity to observe safeguarding and pastoral frameworks in practice
  • Develop behaviour management and intervention strategies
  • Long-term, stable school-based experience (not supply work)
  • A strong foundation for future MSc/Doctorate applications

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.

If you are a Psychology graduate ready to gain meaningful, relevant experience before pursuing further training, apply today or contact Ryan at KPI Education to discuss the role further.
