You don't need a degree in Education or Psychology to apply. Graduates from all degree subjects are welcome, including candidates with a First Class, 2:1 or 2:2 degree.

The Role

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll provide personalised support to pupils who require additional assistance to access their education, develop their skills and make progress.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support for individual pupils

• Supporting pupils within small-group activities

• Helping pupils with their academic development

• Supporting children and young people with SEND

• Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning

• Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

• Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence

• Adapting activities and learning resources to meet individual needs

• Supporting communication and social development

• Working closely with teachers to understand and respond to individual pupil needs

• Assisting with classroom activities and learning resources

• Providing reassurance, encouragement and emotional support throughout the school day

• Helping maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment

Every pupil is different, giving you the opportunity to develop your understanding of individual needs and learn how to adapt your approach to support each child effectively.

What We're Looking For

Previous SEN experience is not essential.

We're looking for graduates who are genuinely interested in helping children and young people succeed and who have the patience, empathy and resilience needed to thrive in a school environment.

You'll ideally have:

• A First Class, 2:1 or 2:2 degree

• A degree in any subject

• A genuine interest in supporting children and young people

• Patience, empathy and a positive attitude

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships

• A willingness to learn from experienced teachers and education professionals

• A calm, consistent and supportive approach

• The resilience to manage challenging situations positively

• A genuine interest in developing a career within education or SEN

• The right to work in the UK on a full-time basis

Previous experience with SEN, schools, children, youth work, tutoring, mentoring, coaching or care would be beneficial but is not essential.

What matters most is your enthusiasm, reliability, patience and commitment to helping pupils achieve their potential.
