Mixed or Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – West Fife

Salary: Up to £60,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits

Why Join This Practice?

  • ⭐ Competitive salary of up to £60,000 DOE
  • ⭐ Flexible opportunity to work mixed practice or small animal only
  • ⭐ Proudly independent, progressive practice with excellent clinical freedom
  • ⭐ Well-equipped practices with digital X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy and advanced in-house diagnostics
  • ⭐ Fantastic work-life balance with a 1-in-8 OOH rota for mixed vets (or no on-call for small animal-only vets)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a thriving, independent mixed practice based in the beautiful West Fife area. This well-established practice operates across three successful sites, serving Perth and Kinross, Fife and Clackmannanshire, and offers the perfect balance of rural practice with excellent access to Edinburgh (30 minutes) and Glasgow (around one hour).

The practice is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Veterinary Surgeon to join its experienced team of 16 vets. This role can be tailored to suit individual interests, with the flexibility to work in a genuinely mixed position or as a dedicated small animal Veterinary Surgeon.

The mixed caseload consists of approximately 65% small animal and 35% farm and equine, providing an excellent variety of work. Farm work includes progressive dairy, beef and sheep cases, alongside a smaller amount of first opinion equine work. There is plenty of opportunity to develop clinical interests, with mixed vets able to focus more heavily on either small or large animal work depending on their preferences.

The small animal facilities are exceptionally well equipped, featuring digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy and extensive in-house laboratory equipment, including an Imagyst scanner for cytology. The farm team also benefits from modern diagnostic equipment, including Ovacyte for faecal worm egg counts.

This is a full-time position, although part-time applications will also be considered.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care. Whether seeking a varied mixed role or a small animal-only position, they will be supported to develop their interests and progress their career within a friendly and progressive practice.

The Package

The successful Veterinary Surgeon will receive:

  • Competitive salary up to £60,000 DOE
  • Private healthcare
  • Generous CPD allowance and ongoing professional development
  • Significant time off in lieu for out-of-hours work
  • 1-in-8 out-of-hours rota for mixed vets
  • No on-call requirement for small animal-only role
  • Flexible full or part-time working options
  • Supportive, experienced team of 16 vets
  • Regular clinical club breakfast meetings
  • Fun social events throughout the year
  • Excellent clinical facilities and equipment
  • Genuine career progression within a successful independent practice

This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to join a friendly, independent practice that offers clinical freedom, a varied caseload, and an outstanding work-life balance in one of Scotland's most desirable locations.
