The Role

As a Graduate English Learning Mentor, you'll support GCSE and A-Level students with reading, writing, and analytical thinking. You'll run small group interventions, deliver one-to-one mentoring, and help students develop the literacy and communication skills they need to succeed — in English and beyond.

This isn't a passive role — you'll be an active, valued member of the English department from day one.

What You'll Be Doing

• Delivering targeted support in English Language and English Literature
• Running small group and one-to-one sessions for GCSE and A-Level students
• Supporting students with essay writing, reading comprehension, and textual analysis
• Helping students with revision strategies and exam technique
• Developing students' confidence in spoken and written communication
• Collaborating closely with qualified English teachers to improve student outcomes

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• A 2:1 or above in English, English Literature, English Language, or a related degree (e.g. Journalism, Creative Writing, Linguistics)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• An ability to explain ideas clearly and accessibly to young people
• Motivation to pursue a career in education

Desirable:

• Previous tutoring, mentoring, or classroom experience
• Familiarity with GCSE and A-Level English curricula
• Experience working with young people in any capacity
