Are you a high-achieving graduate with a strong academic background in Classics or related humanities subjects, and a passion for Latin, language, and literature?

KPI Education is delighted to be working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in Watford to recruit a Graduate Trainee Latin Teacher for September 2026. This is an exceptional opportunity to train as a Latin teacher within a supportive school environment while working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE through a fully salaried, school-based training route.

About the Programme

This immersive teacher training programme offers a structured pathway into a career in education:

  • Spend the majority of the week in school, gaining hands-on classroom experience from the outset.
  • Dedicate protected time each week to professional development, subject knowledge enhancement, and training.
  • Work towards achieving QTS and a PGCE by July 2027.
  • Receive expert mentoring from experienced Classics and humanities teachers.
  • Follow a carefully sequenced training plan designed to build confidence, pedagogical skill, and classroom presence.

This route is ideal for graduates who want to bring Latin to life for young people while developing into a confident and inspiring teacher.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for ambitious graduates who:

  • Hold (or are predicted) a 2:1 degree or higher in Classics, Latin or a related discipline.
  • Have a strong academic interest in Latin language, Roman civilisation, and classical literature.
  • Possess GCSE Grade C / 4 or above in English and Maths.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Are enthusiastic about working with young people and sharing a passion for the ancient world.
  • Are motivated to pursue a long-term career in teaching.
