The Role

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs within a nurturing primary classroom environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children with needs such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Delivering tailored one-to-one and small group interventions to support learning and development.
  • Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external specialists.
  • Assisting in the implementation of EHCPs and personalised support strategies.
  • Encouraging pupils’ confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.

This role offers valuable insight into how SEN provision operates within a mainstream primary school, making it an excellent stepping stone towards further study or training in psychology or education.

  • Have a genuine interest in supporting young children with additional needs.
  • Are patient, empathetic, and resilient in their approach.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have prior experience working with children (beneficial but not essential).

Why Join This School?

  • A friendly and inclusive primary school with a strong SEN provision.
  • Opportunity to gain relevant experience for Educational Psychology pathways.
  • Access to ongoing CPD and SEN-focused training.
  • Work alongside experienced SEN professionals and supportive teaching staff.
