Library Assistant

part time - 18.75 hours per week 

5 Month Ongoing Contract 

The timetable is worked over a 2 week rota as follows:
wb 26/1/2026 - Mon 9.30-4.00 (30 min lunch), Tues 1.00-5.00, Thurs 10.00-2.00, Sat 9.30-4.00 (30 min lunch)
wb 2/2/2026 - Mon 10.00-2.00, Tues 10.00-5.00 (30 min lunch), Weds 2.00-6.00, Fri 10.00-1.00

1. To assist with the day to day organisation of the library and its resources and stock;1. To assist with the day to day organisation of the library and its resources and stock;
2. To guide any volunteer helpers and to assist with their training and supervision; 
3. To assist children using the library, whether singly or in groups, ensuring that health, safety and welfare procedures are adhered to; 
4. To assist and guide the children in their selection of books and resources and to promote and encourage an enjoyment of books and reading;
5. To assist with ordering, stocktaking, maintaining books and resources and lifting, organising and arranging books on shelves; 6. To liaise with the School Library Service to loan appropriate books and materials;
7. To assist with the promotion of the library through attractive presentation, effective displays and a welcoming environment.
