Are you a final-year Mathematics student or a Maths graduate seeking a clear, funded route into teaching from September?

Do you want to train in a mainstream secondary school, earn a salary while you train, and gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) without taking on the financial burden of a university-led PGCE?

A number of high-performing mainstream secondary schools across London are recruiting exceptional graduates to join their Graduate Maths Teacher Training programmes from September. These schools work in partnership with established teacher training providers, offering a rigorous, school-based pathway into the profession.

The Role – Graduate Maths Teacher (Trainee)

As a Graduate Trainee Maths Teacher, you will train full-time in a London secondary school, supported by experienced mentors and specialist trainers. You will:

  • Teach Maths across KS3 and KS4, with progression to KS5 where appropriate.
  • Gradually increase teaching responsibility at a structured and supported pace.
  • Receive weekly pedagogical training focused on classroom practice.
  • Develop strong behaviour management and curriculum delivery skills.
  • Work closely with experienced Maths teachers and senior leaders.
  • Be fully prepared to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) within one academic year.

What’s on Offer

  • Salaried route into teaching with no tuition fees.
  • QTS awarded after one academic year.
  • Option to complete a PGCE at no cost with a leading UK university.
  • School-based, practice-led training rather than theory-heavy assessment.
  • Weekly professional training sessions delivered by expert practitioners.
  • Access to a national network of graduate trainee teachers.
  • A structured, gradual increase in teaching load to support confidence and development.
  • Excellent preparation for a long-term teaching career in London schools.

Ideal Candidate

  • A 2:1 or above in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a closely related degree.
  • Alternatively, a 2:1 or above in any subject with A or A* in A-Level Maths.
  • GCSE Maths and English (or recognised equivalency).
  • Strong subject knowledge and confidence in Mathematics.
  • A genuine commitment to working with young people and making a positive impact.
  • Professional, resilient, and motivated to develop as a teacher.
  • Right to work in the UK.
