Are you a high-achieving Psychology graduate seeking rigorous, school-based experience that will strengthen your pathway into Educational Psychology, SEN teaching, or specialist child-focused professions?

A highly regarded mainstream secondary school in Kensington is recruiting an outstanding Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join its SEN and inclusion team. This is a full-time, long-term role suited to graduates with strong academic credentials who are committed to gaining high-quality experience within a demanding and supportive mainstream setting.

The Role

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions to ensure pupils can fully access the curriculum.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, subject teachers, and external professionals.
  • Support the implementation of EHCP strategies and individual support plans.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
  • Contribute consistently to a structured, inclusive, and high-expectation learning environment.

This position offers a clear, practical understanding of SEN provision in a high-performing mainstream secondary school and is exceptional preparation for postgraduate study or formal teacher training.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a 2:1 or above in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Exhibit professionalism, resilience, and emotional intelligence.
  • Communicate confidently and effectively with both staff and students.
  • Have prior experience working with young people (advantageous, though not essential).
