The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs)

As an Art Therapy Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis with complex needs
  • Assist with behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing, and communication
  • Adapt activities and learning tasks to suit individual needs
  • Implement behaviour plans and de-escalation strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO
  • Promote a safe, structured, and inclusive environment for all learners
  • Help track student progress and contribute to personalised learning plans

Person Specification

  • Degree essential – Psychology, Education, Criminology, Sociology, Childhood Studies or related field
  • Experience supporting young people with SEN, behaviour needs, or disabilities (desirable)
  • Strong communication, empathy, and resilience
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who have complex emotional or behavioural needs
  • Calm, patient, and committed to helping pupils succeed
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
