A leading UK-based engineering and construction firm is currently recruiting for a Project Manager role to oversee electrical installation projects across various industrial sectors, including energy, water, and manufacturing. Based near Warrington, this position involves managing multiple projects, with frequent travel to client sites as required.
Job Overview
The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, execution, and financial performance of a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging in size and complexity. Projects include mechanical, electrical, and control installations across a broad range of sites. The role requires strong project management skills, as well as technical expertise in electrical installations and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management: Create and maintain detailed project plans, manage budgets, and ensure projects remain on schedule.
Financial Oversight: Monitor project budgets, track costs, and work with quantity surveyors to ensure accurate forecasting and reporting.
Client Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, addressing any concerns related to project changes, delays, or budget adjustments.
Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to internal quality standards, conduct design reviews, and monitor progress with site delivery teams.
Health & Safety: Act as Principal Contractor, overseeing safety documentation, risk assessments, and monthly site inspections to maintain a high standard of on-site safety.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background: ONC/HNC or higher in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering.
Certifications: Relevant qualifications in project management (e.g., APM or Prince2), SMSTS or SSSTS, and familiarity with CDM requirements (or willingness to obtain).
Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in MS Project, and the ability to interpret technical documentation.
Experience: Ideally, 2+ years of experience managing projects within a medium to large organization or 4+ years in a support role such as Assistant Project Manager. Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and water industry experience are desirable.
