Our client, The South African Sugar Association (SASA) has an employment opportunity (hourly paid as and when Trade Testing is conducted) at their Shukela Training Centre (STC) for an experienced Trade Test Officer - Boilermaker, based in Mount Edgecombe   

The Shukela Training Centre is a well-regarded training institution which started over 45 years ago and delivers high quality engineering & agricultural training to learners in the sugar and other industries

The position will report to the Technical Training Manager

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The successful incumbent will be responsible for conducting trade tests to aspiring artisans. Tasks will include (but not limited to):

  • Ensure that the trade test Centre is clean and conducive to conduct trade tests
  • Monitor, assess and moderate trade tests
  • Prepare and complete all trade test documentation as per NAMB requirements
  • Ensure all machinery are in safe working order
  • Induct candidates to the trade test
  • Comply and ensure compliance to the requirements of the OHS Act and STC Safety Standards
  • Ensure all consumables are available for trade test

Minimum Requirements: 

Education and Experience:

  • In possession of a National Trade Test Certificate in Boilermaking/Plater welder
  • Registered NAMB Assessor and Moderator will be advantageous
  • Generic Assessor and Moderator Certificate essential
  • Effective communication skills in English is essential
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
  • Must reside in the KZN region / able to travel to Mount Edgecombe

Salary:

Market related
