The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established food manufacturing operation based in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically biased engineer to join a fast-paced production environment, playing a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and ensuring production targets are achieved.

Working on a rotating 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, consisting of four days followed by four nights, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and site equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimise production downtime.
  • Respond effectively to breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Support the maintenance of automated production lines, processing equipment, and packaging machinery.
  • Work collaboratively with the production team to maximise equipment efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety, food safety, and site hygiene standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, installations, and improvement projects where required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Electrical Maintenance Engineer with a relevant electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment; food manufacturing experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with PLCs, control systems, motors, drives, and automated production machinery.
  • A proactive approach to preventative maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Good understanding of health and safety procedures, ideally within a food production environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

What's on Offer?

  • £53,000 annual salary.
  • 4 on / 4 off shift pattern - four days followed by four nights.
  • 12-hour shifts, operating from 6am-6pm and 6pm-6am.
  • Opportunity to join an established food manufacturing operation.
  • A varied and hands-on engineering role within a fast-paced production environment.
  • The opportunity to contribute directly to site performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Interested?

If you are an electrically biased maintenance engineer looking for your next opportunity within the food manufacturing industry, we would love to hear from you.
