SEND Learning Support Assistant – Chelmsford

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming school in Chelmsford that supports pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. The school is committed to providing a positive, inclusive and nurturing environment where every pupil is encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide support to pupils throughout the school day, 5 days a week. 

The successful SEND LSA will be responsible for:

• Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
• Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and engagement
• Assisting the class teacher with differentiated classroom activities
• Helping pupils develop their confidence, independence and social skills
• Supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and behaviour where required
• Following individual support plans and strategies
• Creating a calm, positive and safe learning environment
• Working closely with teachers, SEND professionals and other support staff
• Supporting pupils with personal care where required

The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience working with children, young people or adults with additional needs, ideally within SEND, education, care or support work
• A patient, caring and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Confidence supporting pupils with a variety of individual needs
• A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved throughout the school day
• A genuine commitment to supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing

Previous school experience is beneficial; however, candidates with experience in care, support work, healthcare, youth work or other transferable backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.
