KPI Education is working with an exceptional secondary school and sixth form in the London Borough of Wandsworth to recruit a talented Graduate Teaching Assistant. The role

As a STEM Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers to support pupils across Key Stages 3, 4 and potentially the sixth form.

Depending on your degree specialism, you could be based primarily within mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, design technology or another relevant department.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the delivery of engaging STEM lessons
• Working with individual pupils and small groups to strengthen their subject knowledge
• Delivering targeted interventions for pupils who require additional academic support
• Helping pupils understand challenging mathematical and scientific concepts
• Identifying misconceptions and explaining ideas clearly using alternative methods
• Supporting practical science lessons, experiments and investigations
• Assisting pupils with problem-solving, calculations and analytical tasks
• Helping GCSE and sixth-form students prepare for examinations
• Encouraging academically able pupils to extend and deepen their knowledge
• Supporting teachers with lesson preparation, resources and assessment
• Monitoring pupils’ progress and communicating observations to teaching staff
• Helping to maintain a calm, organised and purposeful classroom environment
• Supporting homework clubs, revision sessions and STEM enrichment activities
• Developing the confidence and practical skills required to lead parts of lessons
• Observing outstanding classroom practice in preparation for teacher training

Psychology graduates may also have opportunities to support pupils with SEND, social and emotional needs, communication difficulties or barriers to learning. This experience would be particularly valuable for graduates considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, clinical psychology or pastoral education.

About you

We are looking for high-achieving graduates with the academic ability, communication skills and enthusiasm required to inspire young people.

The ideal candidate will:

• Hold a First-Class or 2:1 degree from a Russell Group university
• Have a degree in mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, computer science, psychology or another relevant subject
• Possess strong GCSE and A-level results
• Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge
• Be able to explain complex ideas clearly and patiently
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be organised, reliable and attentive to detail
• Show confidence, maturity and a professional approach
• Have a genuine interest in working with secondary-aged pupils
• Be enthusiastic about progressing into teaching in the near future
• Be available for a full-time role for the full academic year

Previous experience working with children or young people would be beneficial, although it is not essential for an exceptional graduate with the right attitude and commitment.
