NIGHTS-Warehouse Supervisor – Counterbalance FLT

Location: Birmingham, B8
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 11:30pm to 7.30am
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join a busy and well-established operation based in Birmingham, B8.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong warehouse background who is ready to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a warehouse operation and lead a team effectively.

The successful candidate will need to be hands-on, organised and confident managing people, while also being comfortable getting involved in the physical side of the operation. A valid Counterbalance FLT licence is essential, as the role will involve operating the forklift as part of the daily warehouse duties.

Due to the location and operational requirements, candidates must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to drive.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the warehouse during the shift.
  • Supervise, motivate and coordinate the warehouse team to ensure daily targets and deadlines are achieved.
  • Allocate work to warehouse operatives and monitor performance throughout the shift.
  • Lead by example and maintain a hands-on approach to warehouse operations.
  • Operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload incoming and outgoing vehicles.
  • Move, position and store goods safely within the warehouse.
  • Oversee goods-in and goods-out activities and ensure stock is handled correctly.
  • Check deliveries and outgoing goods for accuracy and report any discrepancies or damages.
  • Maintain accurate stock records and support stock control and inventory checks.
  • Ensure all warehouse paperwork, documentation and system records are completed accurately.
  • Monitor warehouse productivity, identifying any delays or issues and taking appropriate action.
  • Ensure all company procedures, operating standards and Health & Safety requirements are followed.
  • Carry out regular checks of warehouse equipment and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe warehouse environment.
  • Identify potential hazards and ensure they are dealt with promptly.
  • Support the training and induction of new warehouse employees.
  • Coach team members to improve performance, productivity and safe working practices.
  • Deal with day-to-day employee issues and escalate concerns to management where appropriate.
  • Work closely with transport, production, purchasing and management teams to ensure the operation runs smoothly.
  • Assist with resolving operational problems and continuously look for ways to improve warehouse efficiency.
  • Ensure the warehouse is ready for the next shift and that all outstanding
