Pupil Support Mentor

Milk Education are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Merton who are looking to appoint a Pupil Support Mentor from September.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about supporting children's emotional wellbeing, confidence and engagement with education. You'll work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to provide targeted support to pupils who may need additional encouragement to thrive in school.

The Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring sessions.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support children with confidence, emotional regulation and social skills.
  • Encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Help pupils develop independence and resilience.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to identify appropriate support.
  • Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to relevant staff.
  • Support pupils during challenging periods throughout the school day.

About You

  • Previous experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience in a school, youth work, pastoral or mentoring environment is desirable.
  • Calm, patient and approachable personality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistent and confident when supporting challenging behaviour.
  • Passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning.
