Executive Officer North Yorkshire Council PAYE: £20.00 per hour YO1 6GA Ongoing contract About the Role • Provide high-level executive support to a senior leader within the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. • Manage a complex and ever-changing diary, ensuring priorities are effectively coordinated and delivered. • Act as a key liaison with MPs, elected members, government departments, businesses, community representatives and other senior stakeholders including Police and Fire. • Work in a highly visible, externally facing role, representing the office professionally and building strong stakeholder relationships. • Coordinate briefing materials, meetings, events and public engagements, ensuring the senior leader is fully prepared. • Manage sensitive, confidential and politically significant matters with discretion and sound judgement. • Lead on reactive and urgent issues, responding quickly and effectively to changing priorities and emerging situations. • Take ownership of actions, correspondence and follow-up activity, ensuring matters are progressed and resolved in a timely manner. • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and priorities can shift at short notice. Experience Needed • Significant experience supporting a senior executive, politician, elected member or other high-profile leader. • Experience operating within a political, public sector or stakeholder-rich environment, with an understanding of political sensitivities and public accountability. • Proven ability to manage complex diaries, competing priorities and demanding workloads. • Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and a self-sufficient approach. • Confidence to take the lead on issues, make decisions within delegated authority and drive activities forward with minimal supervision. • Experience managing sensitive or high-profile issues, demonstrating sound judgement, discretion and the ability to assess risk. • Ability to anticipate emerging issues, identify reputational or operational risks, and escalate matters appropriately. • Existing Police Vetting would be highly beneficial, however not essential.
