Behaviour Buddy – Teesside

Location: Teesside
Salary: £540 - £570 per week (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Temporary with the opportunity to become permanent
Start Date: September 2026

Are you passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning? We're working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Teesside to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Buddy to provide 1:1 support for a pupil who requires additional guidance to thrive within the school environment.

This rewarding role focuses on helping a child make positive behavioural choices, develop meaningful friendships and successfully reintegrate into full-time classroom learning. You'll work closely with teaching staff, the SEND team and parents to provide consistent support that enables the pupil to reach their full potential.

About the Role

As a Behaviour Buddy, you'll:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and help the pupil make appropriate choices.
  • Build trusting relationships that promote confidence and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support the development of social skills and positive friendships.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to gradually increase engagement in classroom-based learning.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation.
  • Liaise with school staff to monitor progress and celebrate achievements.

About You

We're looking for candidates who are:

  • Experienced working with children in an educational or care setting.
  • Confident supporting pupils with behavioural, social or emotional needs.
  • Patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Passionate about building positive relationships with young people.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team.
  • Hold (or are willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
