Teaching Assistant

What does a Teaching Assistant do?

  • Support students in the classroom, helping them access learning and stay engaged

  • Work closely with teachers to support the delivery of lessons and classroom activities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students where needed

  • Support students with additional learning needs, including SEND

  • Help students develop their confidence, independence, and social skills

  • Encourage positive behaviour and promote a calm and inclusive learning environment

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students and provide encouragement and guidance

  • Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development

  • Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and the wider school team

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential

  • A degree or relevant qualification is beneficial but not essential

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A patient, supportive, and encouraging approach

  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff

  • A confident and adaptable approach to working in different school environments

  • Previous experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs is desirable
