Veterinary Surgeon – Bedford

Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 FTE | Full or Part Time | Independent Hospital

Purovets is working on behalf of an independent small animal veterinary hospital in Bedford. It’s an exciting opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a progressive practice.

The hospital has a diverse caseload, including exotics, and benefits from a highly experienced team with several certificate holders and Advanced Practitioners in areas including Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging and Small Animal Medicine.

The role

The practice is open to Veterinary Surgeons at different stages of their careers, from those looking to consolidate their general practice skills through to experienced vets who are keen to develop a particular clinical interest.

You’ll be joining a supportive team where asking for help is encouraged, ideas are welcomed and there is plenty of opportunity to develop your clinical skills.

The role offers:

• Salary of £50,000–£70,000 FTE, depending on experience
• A varied small animal caseload, including exotics
• Support from experienced vets and certificate holders
• Opportunities to work towards further qualifications
• 5 days CPD per year, with up to £1,500 CPD allowance pro rata
• 5 weeks annual leave, rising with service

About you

The practice is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who is:

• RCVS registered and eligible to work in the UK
• Committed to providing a high standard of clinical care
• A team player who enjoys working collaboratively
• Comfortable asking for support when needed
• Keen to develop their clinical skills and take advantage of CPD opportunities
• Compassionate, approachable and client-focused
• Ideally confident working in a busy hospital environment, although vets at different stages of their careers will be considered

The practice

This is an independent RCVS-accredited Small Animal Veterinary Hospital with around 50 employees across three sites.

The purpose-built hospital is based in Bedford, with excellent road and rail links towards London, Cambridge and the surrounding areas.

The practice places a strong emphasis on consistency of care, allowing the clinical team to follow cases through from admission to discharge wherever possible.

There is a genuinely collaborative culture, with an approachable management team and an emphasis on supporting colleagues and encouraging new ideas.

Outside of the clinical side, the team also has an active social committee, with events throughout the year for those who want to get involved.
