Secondary Teaching Assistant – Core Subject Support

TeacherActive is currently recruiting an experienced Secondary Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in the Haringey area.

We are looking for a confident and engaging Teaching Assistant who has previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils and can provide targeted academic support and tutoring across the core subjects of English, Maths and Science.

The Role

As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support pupils across KS3 and KS4

• Provide 1:1 and small-group tutoring in core subjects

• Help pupils who have fallen behind or require additional academic intervention

• Support students with GCSE preparation and revision

• Work alongside teachers to adapt activities to individual ability levels

• Encourage engagement, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning

• Provide classroom support where required

• Help maintain positive behaviour and a productive learning environment

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

• Has previous experience as a Secondary Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Learning Mentor or Academic Mentor

• Has strong knowledge of English, Maths and/or Science

• Is confident delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions

• Can support pupils working towards their GCSEs

• Has excellent communication and behaviour-management skills

• Is patient, reliable and able to build positive relationships with young people

• Ideally has previous UK secondary school experience

• Holds or is willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS
