We’re looking for an experienced Digital Delivery Lead to join a large, fast-paced organisation and take ownership of the delivery of customer-facing digital products and services.

You will lead and develop an in-house software engineering team, working closely with Product Owners and wider technology stakeholders to turn business priorities into realistic delivery plans and high-quality software.

This role needs someone who combines strong Agile delivery experience with people leadership and a solid understanding of software engineering. You will be comfortable challenging priorities, managing competing demands and balancing new feature delivery with maintaining existing platforms and addressing technical debt.

The role

• Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing, multidisciplinary software engineering team
• Driving iterative software delivery using Agile methodologies
• Working with Product Owners to translate business requirements and roadmaps into achievable delivery and release plans
• Managing delivery against engineering capacity, capability, priorities and dependencies
• Ensuring appropriate standards across quality, performance, security, maintainability, resilience and operability
• Balancing new product/features with production support, platform maintenance, refactoring and technical debt
• Managing dependencies across technology and business teams
• Driving continuous improvement across engineering delivery and team performance
• Managing relationships with third-party SaaS suppliers, including associated budgets
• Supporting the recruitment, onboarding, development and retention of engineering talent

Experience required

• Proven experience leading, coaching and mentoring in-house software engineering/technology teams
• Strong experience delivering software and digital products within an Agile environment
• Experience creating technology roadmaps, release plans, delivery plans and estimates
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to challenge requirements and priorities
• Experience managing cross-team dependencies and competing delivery priorities
• A good understanding of the software development lifecycle, from development and testing through to deployment and production support
• Experience balancing new feature development with BAU/support and technical debt
• Experience managing third-party technology or SaaS suppliers
• A strong focus on software quality, continuous improvement and delivering measurable business and customer value
