HGV CLASS 1 DRIVER – SHUNTING / TRUNKING – EAST MIDLANDS GATEWAY, DERBYSHIRE / ROCESTER, STAFFORDSHIRE

People Solutions are currently recruiting for HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our well-established client across two sites based at East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire and Rocester, Staffordshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, consistent Monday to Friday work, a choice of morning or afternoon shifts and long-term opportunities with the potential to secure a permanent position.

£17.08–£21.35 PER HOUR | MONDAY TO FRIDAY | AM & PM SHIFTS | SHUNTING OR TRUNKING ROLES | PERMANENT OPPORTUNITIES

This role would suit candidates with experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, Category C+E Driver, CE Driver, Articulated Lorry Driver, Trunk Driver or Shunter Driver.

Shifts

 • Monday to Friday
 • AM and PM shifts available
 • Morning start times between 04:00 and 06:00
 • Afternoon start times between 14:00 and 16:00

Rates of Pay

 • £17.08 per hour – 06:00 to 18:00
 • £21.35 per hour – 18:00 to 06:00

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include:

 • Safely operating Category C+E vehicles
 • Completing three to five trunk runs per day when working on the trunking operation
 • Completing yard and depot-to-depot movements when working on the shunting operation
 • Operating curtain-sider trailers and securing loads correctly, including awkward loads
 • Making timely deliveries to various destinations
 • Communicating effectively with the transport team
 • Adhering to company policies, procedures and safety regulations
 • Ensuring full compliance with drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and relevant road transport legislation

Essential Skills

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

 • A valid UK Category C+E driving licence
 • A valid Driver CPC Card
 • A valid Digital Tachograph Card
 • A minimum of six months' continuous HGV Class 1 driving experience
 • No more than six penalty points for minor infringements
 • No major endorsement codes
 • Excellent communication and time-management skills
 • A professional and reliable attitude

 • Driving assessment required prior to starting
