Masstemps is currently recruiting for an experienced Guillotine Operator to join a well-established and busy manufacturing company based near the Birmingham area.

THE ROLE

• Set up and operate guillotine/shearing machinery to cut sheet metal accurately to required sizes.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, cutting lists and job specifications.
• Set machine dimensions, back gauges and cutting parameters to achieve accurate cuts.
• Process a range of sheet metal materials, including mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
• Check dimensions and quality of cut materials using appropriate measuring equipment.
• Identify defects, burrs or inaccuracies and make adjustments where required.
• Safely load, position and remove sheets from the guillotine, using appropriate manual handling techniques.
• Prepare cut materials for the next stage of fabrication or production.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working area.
• Follow company health & safety procedures and safe working practices at all times.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience operating a guillotine, shearer or sheet metal cutting machinery within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with sheet metal is essential.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and measurements.
• Ideally have forklift counterbalance experience with a valid FLT license.
• Experience using verniers, tape measures and other measuring equipment.
• Good understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and material handling.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately to specifications.
• Physically fit and comfortable handling sheet metal materials.
• Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work independently or as part of a busy fabrication team.

HOURS OF WORK

06:00am - 14:00pm Monday to Friday

PAY RATE

£12.71 - £13.00ph depending on experience and skills.
