Contract: Full-Time | Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Pay Rate: £170 – £220 per day

We are currently recruiting for a PMLD SEND Teacher to join a welcoming and specialist primary SEND school in Bolton, supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and a range of complex additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND teacher who is passionate about providing high-quality, personalised and inclusive education and helping pupils make meaningful progress both academically, socially and developmentally.

The Role

As a PMLD SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, highly differentiated lessons that are adapted to the individual needs and abilities of each pupil.

You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, SEND specialists and wider professionals to create a supportive, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering individualised lessons and learning programmes for pupils with PMLD and complex SEND.

  • Adapting the curriculum to meet a wide range of communication, sensory, physical and cognitive needs.

  • Using sensory, visual, practical and communication-based teaching strategies.

  • Supporting pupils to develop their communication, independence, social and life skills.

  • Creating a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment.

  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans.

  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, parents/carers and external professionals.

  • Promoting positive behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing.

  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, inclusion and pupil welfare.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • QTS or a recognised teaching qualification.

  • Experience working within a SEND, special school or complex needs setting.

  • Experience supporting pupils with PMLD, SLD, ASD or complex learning needs.

  • A strong understanding of differentiation and personalised learning.

  • The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

  • A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • A genuine passion for helping pupils with complex needs achieve their potential.

Experience within a primary SEND setting is highly desirable, although strong candidates with relevant specialist SEND experience will also be considered.

Why Apply?

  • Competitive daily rate of £170 – £220.

  • Full-time opportunity from September 2026.

  • Work within a specialist primary SEND environment in Bolton.

  • Supportive leadership and experienced SEND staff.

  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils with complex additional needs.

  • Ongoing support and professional development.

If you are an enthusiastic and committed SEND Teacher with experience supporting pupils with PMLD or complex learning needs, we would love to hear from you.
