Contracts Manager – Groundworks & Civil Engineering
Salary: £300–£350 per day – temp‑to‑perm opportunity

A well‑established and growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee multiple live projects across residential and commercial developments.
With a strong pipeline of secured work, the business is strengthening its operational leadership team to support continued growth.

Role Overview

As Contracts Manager, you will take operational responsibility for a portfolio of groundworks and civils projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
You will work closely with Directors, Site Managers and the commercial team to maintain high standards of delivery, client satisfaction and project performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects from pre‑start through to completion
• Managing site teams, subcontractors and labour resources
• Ensuring works are delivered to programme, specification and budget
• Leading progress meetings and providing regular operational updates to Directors
• Reviewing RAMS, ensuring compliance with health & safety standards
• Coordinating materials, plant and logistics across sites
• Identifying operational risks and implementing corrective actions
• Supporting commercial teams with variations, progress reporting and final account preparation
• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and internal teams

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within groundworks or civil engineering
• Strong understanding of residential infrastructure and commercial civils packages
• Ability to manage multiple live sites concurrently
• Confident in programme management, resource planning and operational delivery
• Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with commercial and site teams
• Full UK driving licence
