Aspiring School Counsellor – SEMH Classroom Support
Specialist SEND & SEMH School in Merseyside Are you an aspiring School Counsellor looking to gain valuable experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a school setting? We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Support Assistant to join a welcoming specialist secondary school in Sefton. This role is ideal for graduates or individuals considering a future career in counselling, psychology, therapy, social work or mental health support. This is a fantastic opportunity to build hands-on experience working closely with young people who require emotional and behavioral support whilst developing key skills in communication, emotional regulation and relationship building.
About the School This specialist secondary school provides a nurturing and supportive environment for pupils with additional needs. The school has a strong focus on pastoral care and emotional wellbeing, helping students feel safe, understood and supported throughout their education. Staff work collaboratively to support pupils both academically and emotionally, using a consistent and therapeutic approach to behavior support and positive relationship building.
The Role As an SEMH Teaching Support Assistant, you will: • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups • Build strong and trusting relationships with young people
