Are you a detail-oriented Engineering Technician with experience in product testing, device analysis, or semiconductor manufacturing? We're recruiting for a Product Engineering Technician to join a growing Product Engineering team, supporting the development, testing, and continuous improvement of innovative electronic products.

Reporting to the Product Development Engineering Manager, you'll play a key role in product characterisation, technical analysis, reliability testing, and laboratory support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and working with advanced test equipment in a fast-paced technical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide product characterisation support across a range of electronic and semiconductor product lines.
  • Carry out device analysis to support customer returns (RMAs), manufacturing issues, reliability failures, and reverse engineering activities.
  • Produce clear and accurate technical reports, analysing test results against product specifications.
  • Develop and improve automated characterisation processes using Visual Basic and GPIB programming where applicable.
  • Design, build, maintain, and repair laboratory equipment used for product characterisation and testing.
  • Support PCB design and procurement for characterisation and life-testing activities.
  • Develop, edit, and maintain test programmes for automated test equipment (ATE).
  • Manage laboratory operations, including equipment calibration, tester maintenance, repairs, and component procurement.
  • Maintain quarterly GBNT testing requirements and ensure testing schedules are achieved.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing efficiency, product quality, and laboratory performance.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation while ensuring compliance with quality and health & safety standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Five GCSEs (or equivalent), including English.
  • Previous experience within a semiconductor, electronics, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and manufacturing quality processes.
  • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and product inspection techniques.
  • Experience supporting product testing, device analysis, or laboratory activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Visual Basic programming or automated test systems would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems and PCB design is desirable.
  • Experience using SAP and Microsoft Access would be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
