Production Operator

Location: Bedford
Contract: 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract with Permanent Opportunities

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a rotating shift pattern of 6:00am – 2:00pm and 2:00pm – 10:00pm. Candidates must also be willing to work night shifts (10:00pm – 6:00am) on a set-duration basis when required. A night shift premium of one-third is paid for applicable hours worked.

We are seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join the team as a Production Operator.

As a Production Operator, you will play a key role in the manufacturing process, ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in their performance, and works well as part of a team. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to develop their skills and build a long-term career within manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate production equipment, including ovens and gantry cranes
  • Weigh and measure raw materials accurately
  • Prepare moulds and carry out moulding and demoulding processes
  • Record production data and product measurements accurately
  • Trim and finish products ready for the next stage of production
  • Inspect finished products and report faults or quality concerns to the Shift Leader or Team Manager
  • Follow all health and safety procedures when operating machinery and handling materials
  • Use PPE correctly and work in accordance with COSHH and Safe Systems of Work
  • Maintain clean, organised, and hazard-free work areas
  • Move raw materials and finished products using a forklift truck or pallet truck where authorised
  • Support production requirements and work additional hours when required

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment is desirable
  • Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable, honest, and professional approach to work
  • Willingness to learn new skills and follow procedures
  • Ability to undertake physical and manual handling tasks
  • Forklift truck or pallet truck licence is advantageous but not essential
  • Flexible approach to shifts and overtime requirements
