Job Title: Supplier Development Executive Department

Role Overview:

This role sits within the Purchasing Department but operates functionally as a sales-grade business development role. The objective is straightforward: Secure pallet supply to support business growth.

Our client a leading industry pallet suppliers accross the UK, have a great opportunity for an experienced BDM.

The business target for the current year is £17.7m, which can only be delivered by materially increasing pallet intake, we can only sell what it buys, making this role critical to revenue delivery. This role requires sustained outbound activity, resilience, structured followup, and comfort with rejection.

• Identify and research potential pallet suppliers across the UK, including manufacturers, recyclers, logistics operators, and waste management businesses. • Build and maintain a structured pipeline of prospective suppliers.

• Generate opportunities through outbound phone calls, Teams meetings, and face-to-face visits. Outreach & Conversion • Conduct consistent outbound calling as a core daily activity.

• Qualify suppliers based on volume, quality, reliability, and commercial fit.

• Convert prospects into active suppliers through disciplined follow-up and site visits where required. Relationship Development • Build credible, professional relationships that lead to sustainable supply.

• Act as the primary commercial contact during supplier onboarding.

• Support the transition from prospect to live supplier in collaboration with internal teams. Training & Onboarding The successful candidate will complete a structured and thorough onboarding programme designed to build capability quickly and consistently. This will include:

• In-depth training on our values, USPs, and commercial positioning, including a clear explanation of what differentiates Erico from competitors and how this should be communicated to prospective suppliers.

• Shadowing live phone calls, with structured feedback and review of outcomes and next actions.

• Joint supplier visits with experienced team members, including pre-visit preparation and post-visit

Outbound Activity Expectations

There is no fixed daily call target attached to this role. Individuals are expected to determine the most effective use of their time to achieve results. However, the business is clear that high-volume, consistent phone-based activity is a proven driver of supplier acquisition. Activity levels will be reviewed alongside results. Where outcomes are below expectation, outbound call volume and consistency will be examined as a primary performance indicator. Sustained low activity without results will not be considered acceptable performance. CRM Discipline.

• Maintain full CRM compliance at all times.

• Log all calls, meetings, notes, follow-ups, supplier grading, and outcomes.

• CRM accuracy and pipeline visibility are core performance requirements.

• Size and quality of supplier pipeline. • Number of Silver+ suppliers onboarded - Incentivised.

• Volume, reliability, and quality of pallet supply secured.

• Conversion rate from prospect to live supplier.

• Consistency of outbound activity. • CRM accuracy and discipline. Skills & Experience Required

• Experience in sales or business development roles.

• Comfortable with cold calling and proactive outreach.

• Proven experience working with CRM systems and maintaining accurate pipelines. • Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of volume, margin, and supply reliability.

• Strong communication skills, by phone and in person. • Resilient, self-motivated, and structured. • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. • Willingness to travel for supplier visits.
