Role

We are seeking a talented and passionate Head Chef to join our client in Edinburgh. The ideal candidate will possess extensive kitchen experience and a strong background in food production and preparation. As Head Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious dishes, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role requires excellent leadership skills and the ability to work effectively within a creative team environment.

Duties

• Design and evolve seasonal menus that balance rustic charm with refined presentation and reflect current culinary trends.
• Lead a small, passionate brigade with clarity, warmth, and high standards.
• Champion ingredient sourcing—local, sustainable, and true to our ethos, working with the management team.
• Train and mentor junior chefs, cultivating a culture of excellence and creativity.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and prep systems to ensure smooth kitchen flow using the latest software in POS and Kitchen & Inventory Management.
• Maintain consistency in presentation and portioning, with an eye for detail.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.

Skills

• Proven supervisory experience in a Mediterranean-focused kitchen.
• Strong food production skills with an emphasis on Italian and/or Spanish cooking techniques.
• Excellent team management abilities to foster a positive working environment.
• Proficient in food preparation methods and culinary practices.
• In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
• Previous experience in restaurant environments is highly desirable.
• Exceptional leadership qualities that inspire and motivate team members.
• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
