Stores Assistant Birtley £12.21 per hour 

My Client an Engineering business based in Birtley are looking to recruit a stores assistant to assist the lead storeman.

Main Responsibilities:-

• Unload goods from delivery vehicles—often by hand or with forklifts and pallet trucks.
• Verify delivery documents to ensure the goods received match the order or invoice. Any discrepancies, such as missing items or incorrect quantities, must be reported to supervisors.
• Inspect products for damage and ensure they meet the required quality standards. Damaged goods are flagged and reported to management for corrective action.
• Rotating stock to ensure older products are used or shipped first (especially for food or perishable items).
• Sorting and arranging products by category or type in designated storage areas (shelves, racks, or bins).
• Labelling and tagging products for identification and inventory control.
• Using equipment like forklifts to move heavy or bulky items safely
• Conducting regular stock counts to maintain an up-to-date inventory.
• Using scanners or warehouse management software to record the movement of goods
• Reporting any discrepancies, damaged stock, or missing inventory to supervisors or managers.
• Monitoring stock levels to ensure sufficient supply and identifying low-stock items for reordering.

The successful candidate would be responsible for looking after the full stores area in the lead store man absence so feel comfortable to carry this responsibility also from time to time.
