Salary - Competitive

Location - North Yorkshire

Contract - Fulltime, Permanent

Hours - Mon to Thurs 8:00am to 5:00pm & Fri 8:00am to 2:00pm

Work Environment - Primarily office-based with independent and team-oriented tasks. This role may involve travel to suppliers and customer locations.

Purpose of Role

Drive supplier management and sourcing strategies to maximise profitability.

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer:

• Manage RFQ to SOP processes for new business awards.
• Oversee daily commercial supplier management, including cost reduction initiatives.
• Develop innovative ideas to enhance profitability through commercial or process efficiencies.
• Support Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) by managing supplier delivery issues and negotiating claims.
• Formulate and implement commodity strategies covering packaging, logistics, and consumables.

Candidate Profile

What We're Looking For: A highly motivated professional with a proactive approach to business challenges, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

Key Skills of the Buyer:

• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical, literacy, and numeracy abilities
• Demonstrated negotiation expertise

Ideal Experience:

• Willingness to travel within the UK
• Previous experience as a Buyer or Graduate Buyer
• Proven experience managing projects from RFQ to SOP
• Track record of meeting project goals and achieving cost reductions

Educational Background:

• Graduate degree in Business, Mathematics, or related field preferred
• CIPS certification (desirable but not required)

Additional Requirements:

• Strong numerical and communication skills
• Ability to summarize complex data and present insights to management
• Flexible and adaptable to meet evolving business needs
