Would you like to build a career in educational psychology, behavioural support or SEN education while making a meaningful difference to students who need additional support?

KPI Education is partnering with an alternative provision school in Stafford to recruit a motivated and compassionate Graduate Behaviour Mentor. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an educational setting while helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will work closely with pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support, both individually and in small learning groups.

Working alongside experienced teachers and education specialists, you'll develop practical skills, build meaningful relationships and gain valuable insight into the education and SEN sectors.

This position would be particularly beneficial for graduates considering future careers in:

  • Educational Psychology
  • Clinical Psychology
  • Teaching and Education
  • Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Youth and Community Work
  • Social Work
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing

What You'll Be Doing

  • Establish positive and supportive relationships with pupils, building trust and rapport.
  • Deliver tailored behavioural support through one-to-one sessions and small-group activities.
  • Motivate students to engage with their education and improve their attendance and behaviour.
  • Help pupils develop strategies to manage their emotions and regulate their behaviour.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to maintain a positive, inclusive and structured classroom environment.
  • Respond to challenging behaviour using calm, patient and appropriate de-escalation techniques.
  • Demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviours, acting as a strong role model.
  • Observe and record pupil development, providing feedback to support individual progress.
  • Liaise with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support for students.

What We're Looking For

We are keen to hear from graduates who are passionate about education and committed to helping young people succeed.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A First-Class or 2:1 degree in Psychology, Education Studies, Social Work, Health and Social Care or a related discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with a range of individuals.
  • A patient, adaptable and resilient personality.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to remain positive in challenging situations.
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • The motivation to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to students' development.

Any previous experience working with children or young people, particularly in mentoring, tutoring, youth work or behavioural support, would be beneficial but is not essential.

Safeguarding Requirements

Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK. The successful candidate will also be required to complete the relevant safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
