Working Pattern

Key Responsibilities

• Work alongside the site management team from project mobilisation onwards to establish and maintain the approved electrical safety arrangements, under the direction of the senior electrical authority.
• Ensure all personnel working on site understand and follow the required electrical safety procedures and controls.
• Manage, issue and monitor permits associated with energised electrical activities within the assigned scope.
• Review project drawings, technical documentation and specifications to identify and understand project-specific electrical requirements.
• Ensure operational procedures are followed and that all works comply with applicable high-voltage safety requirements.
• Demonstrate an understanding of electrical protection systems and their operation during fault conditions.
• Prepare and maintain relevant electrical safety documentation, including isolation and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Review switchgear distribution configuration, control arrangements and system topology ahead of energisation and start-up.
• Coordinate with specialist Testing & Commissioning contractors during early-stage reviews, helping establish commissioning sequences, methodologies and test documentation.
• Work with control-system vendors, including SCADA, BMS and EMS providers, to coordinate system handover activities in accordance with permit schedules and agreed protocols.

Skills & Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or an electrical trade qualification supported by appropriate technical training and experience.
• At least 5 years' experience in a comparable position within an electrical contracting environment, ideally gained across data centres, industrial facilities, pharmaceutical projects or other technically complex projects.
• Previous hands-on experience working with MV/HV electrical systems, together with experience operating in an Authorised Person or equivalent electrical-authority capacity.
• Ideally qualified to S1 level, covering work across voltage levels, or S2 level, covering systems up to 1,000V.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical testing and verification.
• Relevant HV switching certification/tickets.
• Strong procedural approach with a clear focus on EHS, quality assurance and structured work-management systems.
