Help Customers Take the Next Step Towards a Greener Home

We're recruiting for a Solar Customer Support Specialist to join a growing home energy team in Bolton.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with solar industry experience who enjoys working directly with customers and wants to play an important part in their journey towards solar energy and battery storage.

This is not a traditional hard-sales role.

Instead, you'll take ownership of customers following their initial online enquiry, becoming their knowledgeable and trusted point of contact throughout the entire process - from initial quotation and questions through to survey, installation and completion.

You'll combine your knowledge of Solar PV and battery storage with excellent customer service skills to make what can sometimes feel like a technical process simple, clear and straightforward.

The Role

Customers will initially make an online enquiry and receive information relating to their proposed solar installation.

From there, you'll take ownership of the relationship.

You'll manage your own portfolio of customers at different stages of their journey, answering questions, explaining proposals, progressing applications and coordinating with internal teams to ensure installations move forward smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to online solar enquiries and leads

  • Contacting customers following their initial quotation or enquiry

  • Discussing Solar PV and battery storage proposals

  • Explaining quotations, products and next steps clearly

  • Answering technical and general solar-related customer questions

  • Guiding customers through the purchasing process without a hard-sell approach

  • Arranging customer surveys

  • Coordinating key stages leading up to installation

  • Submitting and managing DNO applications and notifications

  • Issuing customer documentation and important information

  • Managing installation-related queries

  • Providing updates throughout the process

  • Supporting customers following installation

  • Managing multiple customer cases at different stages simultaneously

  • Working closely with Surveyors, Qualified Supervisors and installation teams

  • Ensuring each customer journey reaches a successful conclusion

What We're Looking For

Previous solar industry experience is a key requirement for this position.

We'd particularly like to speak with candidates who have worked within residential Solar PV, battery storage or renewable energy and understand the customer journey involved in progressing an installation.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience working within the solar/renewable energy sector

  • Good working knowledge of Solar PV and battery storage systems

  • Experience managing customers from initial enquiry through to installation/completion

  • At least 1-2 years' Technical Support

  • Confidence answering customer questions relating to solar products and installations

  • Experience dealing with quotations, surveys, applications or installation documentation

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Strong organisation and case-management skills

  • The ability to manage multiple customers and priorities simultaneously

  • Good commercial awareness

  • A customer-first approach while still being comfortable progressing enquiries

  • A full UK driving licence

Experience with DNO applications, solar surveys, installation coordination or post-installation support would be particularly advantageous.

What Does Success Look Like?

Success isn't about aggressive selling.

It's about making sure customers know exactly what's happening, understand their options and feel confident about the decisions they're making.

You'll be expected to maintain regular contact, progress enquiries efficiently, arrange surveys, keep documentation accurate and resolve issues quickly.

You'll work towards KPIs around customer contact, surveys, progression and conversion, but the priority remains delivering an excellent customer experience.

Why Apply?

This is a great opportunity to join an established organisation as it continues to develop its presence within the growing home energy and solar market.

If you already understand the solar customer journey and enjoy helping customers navigate the technical and practical aspects of an installation, we'd love to hear from you.
