Owen Payne Recruitment Services are delighted to be recruiting for a number of Assembly Workers / Panel Builders on behalf of our prestigious client based in the Wolverhampton (WV1) area.

This is a 12-week Temp to Perm opportunity offering long-term career prospects.

IMPORTANT – Previous Steel Manufacturing Experience Required

This role involves working with large lengths of heavy steel and assembling large-scale steel structures. It is physically demanding and requires candidates who are confident handling, positioning and assembling heavy steel components.

Candidates MUST have previous experience within the last 12 months working in a steel manufacturing or steel fabrication environment, carrying out large-scale assembly work.

Experience must be recent and directly relevant. General factory, light assembly or small-component assembly experience alone will not be sufficient for this position.

Key Duties:

• Working with large lengths and sections of heavy steel
• Assembling large-scale steel structural frameworks and panels
• Using hand and power tools to assemble steel structures
• Reading and working from technical drawings and work instructions
• Selecting the correct materials and components for each job
• Assembling components using nuts, bolts and other fixings
• Measuring steel and materials accurately using a tape measure
• Carrying out quality checks to ensure high standards are maintained
• Working towards daily KPI targets
• Carrying out manual handling and heavy lifting throughout the working day
• Safely positioning and manoeuvring large and heavy steel components
• Working as part of a team on large assembly projects
• Carrying out any additional duties as required to meet business needs

The Ideal Candidate:

• Recent experience – within the last 12 months – in a steel manufacturing, steel fabrication or similar heavy steel environment
• Previous experience carrying out large-scale steel assembly work
• Comfortable working with large, heavy steel components and long lengths of steel
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Able to read and understand technical drawings
• Confident with measurements and using a tape measure
• Physically fit and capable of regular heavy manual handling
• Reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious
• Able to work effectively as part of a team
• Candidates without recent steel manufacturing and large assembly experience will not be considered for this role

Working Hours:

• Monday to Thursday – 07:00 to 15:30
• Friday – 07:00 to 14:30 (Early Finish)

Pay Rate:

• £13.21 per hour
