TeacherActive is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated Geography Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in North West London, starting in September.

As a Geography Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons across physical and human Geography, helping students develop their understanding of geographical processes, global issues, sustainability, environments and different communities around the world.

You will be responsible for creating lessons that challenge and motivate students while adapting your teaching to support different abilities and learning needs. You will use maps, geographical data, case studies and current global issues to make learning relevant and accessible.

The successful Geography Teacher will also support students with examination preparation, assessment and progress monitoring, while maintaining high expectations for behaviour, participation and achievement.

The successful Geography Teacher will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Strong subject knowledge in physical and human Geography
  • Experience teaching Geography at secondary level
  • Confidence teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4
  • Experience teaching GCSE Geography
  • A-Level Geography experience would be beneficial
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to plan engaging and differentiated lessons
  • Confidence using maps, data, case studies and geographical resources
  • Strong assessment and progress-monitoring skills
  • The ability to support students with examination preparation
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues
  • A commitment to high expectations and academic progress
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Geography across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach GCSE Geography and A-Level where required
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across physical and human Geography
  • Develop students’ geographical knowledge, analytical skills and critical thinking
  • Use maps, data, case studies and real-world examples within lessons
  • Differentiate lessons to meet a range of abilities and learning needs
  • Assess, monitor and record student progress
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback
  • Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations
  • Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment
  • Encourage curiosity, independence and confidence in learning
  • Contribute to departmental planning and development
  • Support trips, fieldwork and Geography enrichment where required
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise student wellbeing
