About the Role

We are recruiting for a Commis Chef to join our client's busy and fast-paced hospitality team. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic chef looking to develop their skills and gain valuable experience in a professional, high-volume kitchen environment.

Working as part of a supportive kitchen team, you will assist with food preparation, cooking and service while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and presentation.

Working Hours

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis, including weekends
  • Typical working hours are 12:00pm – 9:00pm, with occasional 11:00am starts

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation, cooking and presentation of high-quality dishes.
  • Support the senior chefs with daily food preparation and service.
  • Work efficiently as part of the kitchen team during busy service periods.
  • Maintain your designated kitchen area to a high standard of cleanliness and organisation.
  • Follow recipes, portion control and presentation standards.
  • Ensure food is prepared and stored safely in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
  • Assist with stock rotation, storage and waste management.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health & safety and kitchen hygiene.
  • Help with general kitchen duties as required.
  • Learn and develop cooking techniques and kitchen skills under the guidance of senior chefs.
  • Work effectively and professionally in a busy, fast-paced kitchen environment.

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • Previous experience as a Commis Chef, Kitchen Assistant or Cook is essential.
  • A genuine passion for food and an eagerness to learn.
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety and kitchen best practices.
  • The ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive attitude, reliability and excellent attention to detail.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the kitchen team.
  • Own transport is essential due to the location of the venue.
