TeacherActive is working with a lovely primary school in DE7, Ilkeston, seeking caring SEN Teaching Assistants for day-to-day supply cover. You’ll help pupils access learning, build independence and feel confident in the classroom.

What the role involves:

• Supporting primary pupils with SEND individually and in small groups.

• Adapting classroom activities alongside the teacher to meet individual needs.

• Helping pupils develop communication, literacy and numeracy skills.

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour.

• Encouraging independence, friendships and participation.

• Working with teachers, the SENCO and support staff to provide consistent support.

The successful applicant will have:

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or experience supporting primary-aged children with SEND.

• An understanding of needs such as autism, ADHD and learning difficulties.

• Knowledge of the primary curriculum and ways to adapt learning.

• A calm, patient and nurturing approach.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Reliability and flexibility for day-to-day cover.
