Are you looking for a long-term Learning Support Assistant opportunity with the potential to secure a permanent position?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist alternative provision in St Helens that provides a nurturing and supportive environment for primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The provision is committed to helping children rebuild confidence, overcome barriers to learning and successfully re-engage with education through strong relationships, high expectations and a caring ethos. Recent Ofsted inspections recognised the provision for its good quality of education, behaviour, personal development and leadership.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant on a long-term basis from September, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right Learning Support Assistant. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them access learning, regulate their emotions and develop positive relationships while confidently managing challenging behaviour.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
• Experience managing challenging behaviour within an education, care or youth work setting
• A calm, patient and resilient approach to behaviour management
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• The ability to work effectively as part of a supportive staff team
• A genuine passion for helping children achieve positive outcomes
