Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary Schools

Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching, educational psychology, or another education-based profession? If you're passionate about supporting young people and making a difference, this could be the perfect opportunity.

Join secondary schools across Leeds and Wakefield, supporting students aged 11–18 in the classroom while working alongside experienced teachers and support staff. You'll gain hands-on experience helping students achieve their potential and develop the skills needed for a successful career in education.

What you'll do:

  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Work with individual students and small groups to improve confidence, understanding and progress.
  • Provide targeted academic and pastoral support where needed.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
  • Build strong relationships with students, teachers and wider school staff.

Who we're looking for:

  • Recent graduates with a passion for working with young people.
  • Individuals considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, youth work or education.
  • Confident communicators who can motivate and engage students.
  • Patient, proactive and adaptable individuals who enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential.

What this role offers:

  • Pay: £107.71 – £137.71 per day
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
  • Outstanding classroom experience in a variety of secondary schools.
  • Ongoing support from experienced education consultants.
  • An excellent foundation for PGCE, teacher training, educational psychology and other education careers.
