General Cover Teaching Assistant

Salary: £95 - £120 per day

Do you have a Level 3 qualification, or at least six months of classroom experience supporting children in a primary school?

TeacherActive is delighted to be working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Derby (DE1) that is looking to recruit a confident and adaptable General Cover Teaching Assistant. The school prides itself on creating a positive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to be curious, resilient and independent, supported by a dedicated team of staff.

This long-term, full-time role will see you supporting classes across a range of year groups, providing classroom cover where needed and delivering targeted interventions for individual pupils and small groups. You will work closely with teachers to adapt learning, support pupils with SEND, encourage positive behaviour and use effective regulation strategies to help children access the curriculum. A good understanding of the primary curriculum, adaptive teaching and pre-key stage assessment will be highly beneficial, along with the confidence to work flexibly across multiple Key Stages.

The successful General Cover Teaching Assistant will have:

• A Level 3 qualification or a minimum of six months' recent experience working within a primary school.
• A good understanding of the primary curriculum across multiple Key Stages.
• Experience supporting pupils through adaptive teaching, interventions and small group work.
• Knowledge of SEND, pre-key stage assessment and inclusive classroom practice.
• Confidence using positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
• A proactive, flexible and enthusiastic approach with a genuine passion for supporting children's learning.
