Behaviour Mentor – Haringey

Milk Education are working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Haringey to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral team. This is a rewarding opportunity for a resilient and compassionate Behaviour Mentor who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

The successful Behaviour Mentor will work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional and social support, helping them to engage positively with school life and develop the confidence and resilience needed to succeed. The school prides itself on maintaining high expectations while providing a nurturing environment where every student feels valued and supported.

The Role:

  • Working as a Behaviour Mentor to support students with behavioural, emotional and social needs
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group interventions focused on behaviour, wellbeing and engagement
  • Supporting students who may be at risk of exclusion or disengagement from learning
  • Promoting positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation techniques
  • Assisting teachers in maintaining a calm and productive learning environment
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate intervention records
  • Liaising with pastoral staff, parents and external professionals where appropriate

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Teaching Assistant or Support Worker
  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, ASD, ADHD or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Ability to remain professional when managing challenging situations
  • Passion for supporting young people to achieve their full potential

The successful Behaviour Mentor will become part of a dedicated pastoral team that is committed to ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive. Essential Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
  • Relevant experience working with children or young people
