The Opportunity

This is not just another Operations Manager position.

Our client is investing heavily in the Renewable Energy sector and is looking for an ambitious operational leader to establish and grow a brand-new Solar & Renewables division.

You'll have the autonomy to build the operation your way-developing the infrastructure, recruiting the team, implementing best practice, and creating an installation business capable of becoming one of the UK's leading providers of residential solar solutions.

The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you'll take full ownership of operational delivery across the division, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards while building the foundations for future growth.

You'll be responsible for developing operational strategy, establishing robust processes and governance, recruiting high-performing teams and delivering an exceptional customer experience.

This is a highly visible leadership role with significant influence over the future direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and deliver the operational strategy for the Solar & Renewables division.
• Build a scalable operational structure capable of supporting significant business growth.
• Identify opportunities to expand into Battery Storage, EV Charging and other renewable technologies.
• Work closely with senior leadership to support long-term business objectives.

Operational Delivery

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of residential solar installation projects.
• Develop operational procedures, systems and governance frameworks.
• Ensure installations are completed safely, on time, within budget and to exceptional quality standards.
• Drive continuous improvement across installation performance and customer experience.
• Oversee scheduling, resource planning and workforce utilisation.
• Work closely with regional and district managers to maximise operational efficiency.
• Monitor operational performance including installation success rates, customer satisfaction, re-attend volumes and fleet utilisation.
• Manage operational escalations, ensuring swift resolution and positive customer outcomes.

Building the Team

One of the most exciting aspects of this opportunity is building your own operation.

You'll recruit, develop and mentor a high-performing team across installation, surveying, technical support and project delivery while creating a culture centred around accountability, quality and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Quality

You'll ensure the business operates to the highest industry standards, maintaining compliance with MCS, NICEIC and all relevant health & safety legislation whilst ensuring every installation meets both regulatory and customer expectations.

Stakeholder Management

You'll become the senior operational representative for the division, building strong relationships with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and accreditation bodies while providing regular updates to the executive leadership team.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines operational excellence with commercial awareness and enjoys building businesses rather than simply maintaining them.

You'll ideally have:

• At least 5 years' experience within the Solar PV installation sector.
• Proven leadership experience managing operational teams.
• Experience delivering multiple installation projects simultaneously.
• A strong understanding of operational planning, scheduling and resource management.
• Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• A track record of improving operational performance and customer satisfaction.
• Excellent leadership, coaching and stakeholder management skills.

Highly Desirable

• Experience launching or scaling a Solar installation business or division.
• Experience within Battery Storage, EV Charging or wider Renewable Technologies.
• Previous experience in a fast-growth or entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong industry relationships across the Renewable Energy sector.
• Technical, Electrical, Engineering or Business qualification.
