A highly respected specialist SEN school in North West London is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis.

The school supports children and young people with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), speech and language needs, sensory processing difficulties and associated social, emotional and behavioural needs. The school is known for its highly personalised approach, strong therapeutic ethos and commitment to helping every pupil achieve their individual potential.

Working closely alongside Teachers, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists and wider specialist professionals, you will play a key role in supporting pupils to access learning, develop communication skills, build independence and achieve their EHCP outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional needs

- Support pupils throughout the school day, both within lessons and during structured social and life-skills activities

- Adapt communication approaches to meet individual pupil needs, including supporting alternative communication methods where appropriate

- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities

- Support pupils in developing independence, emotional regulation, social interaction and self-confidence

- Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised interventions in line with EHCP targets and individual support plans

- Work collaboratively with therapists and specialist professionals to ensure consistency of support

- Monitor and record pupil progress, engagement and wellbeing

- Contribute to annual reviews, target-setting processes and wider pupil support planning where required

- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour throughout the school

- Support pupils with personal care and physical needs where required

- Help create a calm, nurturing and structured learning environment that enables pupils to thrive

About You:

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and will understand the importance of patience, consistency and relationship-building when working within specialist education.

You may currently be working as a:

- SEN Teaching Assistant

- Learning Support Assistant

- Behaviour Mentor

- Autism Support Worker

- Specialist Teaching Assistant

- Care Practitioner within a children's setting

- Communication Support Worker

- Intervention Support Assistant

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience supporting:

- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

- Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)

- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

- Complex Learning Needs

- Sensory Processing Needs

- SEMH Needs

- ADHD

- Physical Disabilities

- Personal Care Requirements

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

- Previous experience working within a specialist SEN school, resource provision or similar environment

- Experience supporting children or young people with Autism and additional needs

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- A calm, resilient and nurturing approach

- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills

- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

- Genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners

- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within education

- Commitment to promoting pupil independence, wellbeing and achievement
