A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Manchester is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1), and Key Stage 2 (KS2).

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils with additional needs access education in a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing targeted 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND
  • Supporting children with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Delivering tailored interventions to support academic, social, and emotional development
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Supporting communication, language, and social interaction skills
  • Creating a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff

About You, To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have previous experience working as an SEN Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and communication needs
  • Have experience supporting pupils with EHCPs and individual learning plans
  • Be patient, resilient, adaptable, and nurturing in your approach
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be confident building positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Have strong spoken English skills to effectively support pupils, including those with English as an Additional Language (EAL)
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Have the right to work in the UK
