Job Summary

As a Prison Nurse (RGN), you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients within secure custodial settings. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while maintaining professional standards and security protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and effective nursing care within prison healthcare settings.
• Undertake clinical assessments and develop care plans.
• Administer medications in line with policies and procedures.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and deteriorating patients.
• Support clinics including chronic disease management and health promotion.
• Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
• Work collaboratively with prison staff and healthcare teams.
• Adhere to infection prevention, safeguarding, and security procedures.
• Promote dignity, equality, and patient wellbeing.

Essential Requirements

• Valid NMC registration.
• Minimum 6 months UK nursing experience.
• Strong clinical assessment and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and nights where required.
• Up-to-date mandatory training.

Mandatory Requirement

• Prison Clearance is essential and must be in place prior to deployment. Applications without prison clearance will not be considered.

Desirable

• Previous prison healthcare experience.
• PMVA/MAPA training.
• Experience in secure or forensic settings.
