Qualified English Teacher

Location : Manchester (excellent transport links)

Salary : In line with the Main/Upper Teaching Pay Scale

September start date

Are you an English teacher who loves helping students find their voice and build confidence?

Looking for a role where you can be part of something new and shape a school from the ground up?

If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Qualified English Teacher to join a brand new, purpose-built specialist secondary school opening this September in Manchester.

This is a fantastic chance to get involved from day one - helping create a supportive and engaging learning environment for young people aged 11–18 who need additional support to succeed.

If you’re someone who enjoys making a real impact and wants more than just a typical teaching role, you’ll fit right in here.

About the Role

You’ll be delivering engaging and accessible English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5). The focus is on building confidence in reading, writing, and communication, while encouraging students to express themselves and develop a love for language and literature.

This role requires a flexible and creative approach, adapting lessons to suit a wide range of learning needs. You’ll be working with students who benefit from a more personalised and supportive teaching style, so patience, empathy, and adaptability are essential.

What’s On Offer

  • Salary in line with the Main/Upper Teaching Pay Scale

  • September start date

  • Easily accessible Manchester location with great transport links

  • The opportunity to shape the English provision in a brand new school

  • A supportive and forward-thinking leadership team

  • Modern, purpose-built facilities designed to support high-quality teaching

  • A rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day

  • Ongoing professional development opportunities

About You :

We’re looking for someone who brings both experience and the right mindset:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching English at secondary level

  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum (Language and/or Literature)

  • GCSEs and A-Levels in English (or equivalent)

  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

  • A patient, adaptable, and encouraging teaching style

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

 Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in specialist or alternative provision settings

  • Knowledge of differentiated and personalised learning strategies

  • Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches

Why This Role?

This is more than just a teaching job - it’s an opportunity to help build something meaningful from the ground up. You’ll play a key role in supporting students to develop confidence in communication, re-engage with learning, and achieve success.
